The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of eating high and low glycemic index foods on physical recovery and re-exercise endurance in a short period of 4 hours. Seven male endurance runners performed two balanced repeat tests at intervals of not less than seven days. On the day of the experiment, subjects were fasting for twelve hours before running on a treadmill at 70% VO2max for 90 minutes. After the rest in the laboratory, 4 hours later ran to the same speed exhausted. During the rest period, subjects were fed with high Glycemic Index (HGI) foods (GI = 67) and Low Glycemic Index (GII) foods (GI = 37) Kg - 1 body weight). Both foods provided the same amount of calories (56 5 ± 10 kilo calories) and nutrients (65% carbohydrates, 15% protein and 20% fat); at the same time, subjects had to drink Equivalent to 11.5 times the body weight loss of boiled water. The results showed that after eating HGI food, exercise-induced prolonged lengthening of 15%, [HGI: 86.6 ± 1.07 points vsLGI: 75.2 ± 8.1 points]. The glycemic response within two hours after a meal showed that the area under the glycemic response line after eating HGI was 40% greater than the LGI food, and the subjects were fully rehydrated in both experimental conditions without significant differences in water balance HGI: 1 12.7 ± 8.7% vsLGI: 11.5 ± 7.1%) .But there was no significant difference in biochemical indexes between exercise and short-term convalescence after eating different glycemic index foods, suggesting that after eating HGI food Can extend the re-exercise time, may be related to increasing muscle glycogen recovery.
