霍克海默是法兰克福学派的重要代表,他在艺术上倡导对现实的社会问题和传统意识形态进行批评,指出艺术的本质是自律的,主要表现在个体的审美体验和对社会现实的超越中。同时,他对现代社会条件下,艺术逐渐大众化的趋势予以批判,倡导艺术发挥反抗和拯救现实的功能。
Horkheimer is an important representative of the Frankfurt School. He advocated in art to criticize the actual social problems and traditional ideology. He pointed out that the essence of art is self-discipline, which is mainly manifested in the individual’s aesthetic experience and the transcendence of social reality. At the same time, he criticized the trend of popularization of the arts under the conditions of modern society and advocated the function of art to resist and save the reality.
