Many news organizations reported the news fact that “the construction period of 48 months was completed 21 months in advance of completion of the project” when it reported the opening of the Zhengzhou Yellow River Highway Bridge. Some of them also wrote in the introduction to emphasize the news. In a similar vein, it is even more “hot” for the press to finish the project ahead of schedule. It seems that the larger the “advance”, the higher the news value. I do not doubt the goodwill of reporters, better than postponed in advance. I have no intention of belittling the enthusiasm and creativity of bridge builders.
