全面论述了东风6型机车的功率、经济性、牵引性能、粘着性能、可靠性等一系列技术、经济指标，并详细介绍了东风6型机车的研制、运行、实验分析情况，与ND5型、东风4B型机车作了全面比较。指出：东风6型机车是我国当前最佳的内燃机车车型，已经达到了交一直内燃机车的世界先进水平，是东风4型机车的最佳换代产品，也是将来ND5型机车的替代型机车。因此，建议及早鉴定及早转产投入批量生产。
A series of technical and economic indexes such as power, economy, traction performance, adhesion performance and reliability of Dongfeng 6 locomotive are comprehensively discussed. The development, operation and experimental analysis of DF6 locomotive are introduced in detail. Compared with ND5, Dongfeng 4B locomotive made a comprehensive comparison. It is pointed out that Dongfeng 6 locomotive is the best diesel locomotive model in our country at present and has reached the world advanced level of all diesel locomotives. It is the best substitute for Dongfeng 4 locomotive and an alternative locomotive for ND5 locomotive in the future. Therefore, it is recommended that early identification of early production into mass production.
