在全国享有盛名的民间艺术中,被誉为“三花”的花鼓灯、花鼓戏、凤阳花鼓,是根植在群众中的三朵艺术奇葩。其中花鼓灯是流行在安徽淮河两岸的广场艺术,它包括舞蹈、音乐和戏剧三个部分。花鼓灯朴素、粗犷、热情、豪放,是广大人民所喜爱的舞蹈形式之一。花鼓灯音乐独具特色,深受群众欢迎。 花鼓灯音乐主要包括两个部分:一是花鼓灯锣鼓;二是花鼓灯歌。歌是在舞蹈跳完之后单独演唱。以前在民间演唱只有用锣鼓作为伴奏乐器,以前奏和间奏的形式出现。其歌词很大一部分属于民间艺人们的口头即兴创作,形式生动活泼,内容亲切热情、优美动听。它的旋律、节奏、调式都有特色;特别值得一读的是它的曲式结构,自成体系,独具一格。
