On September 16, 1995, Compaq Computer Corporation, the world’s largest PC manufacturer, announced the official opening of Compaq Computer Technologies (China) Co., Ltd., a joint venture with Stone Group in Shenzhen. The company’s factory covers an area of 170,000 square meters, located in Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Town, with a host assembly line and three computer power production lines, employing 600 employees. It is reported that the United States Compaq successively in Houston, Europe, Europe, Scotland, Brazil, Singapore set up four computer manufacturing plants, and just opened in Shenzhen, China’s joint venture factory is the fifth production plant Compaq.
