合成生物学致力于设计和建构自然界不存在的生物系统并将其运用于人类实践,这一新学科正对生命、自然及进化发起了挑战,也导致其在实践中面临悖论发展的困境。合成生物学挑战了传统的生命概念,摧毁了自然性,利用人为选择和有目的的进化取代了自然进化。所有这些合理的技术操作都导致了其存在的不合理性;而从其不合理性中,又能看到其科技应用的合理性。考察合成生物学的这种实践悖论特性,对于深入理解工程伦理的实践价值无疑具有重要的哲学启迪。
The focus of synthetic biology on the design and construction of a biological system that does not exist in nature and its application to human practice is challenging the life, nature and evolution of synthetic biology and leading it to face the dilemma of paradoxical development in practice. Synthetic biology has challenged the traditional concepts of life, destroying nature, and replaced natural evolution with artificial selection and purposeful evolution. All these reasonable technical operations have led to its irrationality; from its irrationality, we can see the rationality of its application of science and technology. Examining this paradoxical nature of synthetic biology has undoubtedly important philosophical implications for understanding the practical value of engineering ethics.
