1988年11月3日下午,美国纽约州教育厅董事会主席马丁·巴瑞尔访问了对外经济贸易大学,向该校颁发了正式承认经贸大学国际贸易专业工商管理硕士学位(MBA)的注册证书。巴瑞尔先生说,纽约州教育厅董事会得到美国教育委员会的特许,承认该机构认可的学位不但在纽约州而且在全美各大学都具效益;它是全美唯一享有这一特权的州级教育机构。他指出,由于该州的亚洲人较多,而且美中两国间的贸易不断增长,纽约州和中国之间通过交流建立起来的良好关系将具有特殊重要的意义。对外经济贸易大学校长孙维炎在证书颁发仪
On the afternoon of November 3, 1988, Martin Barrell, Chairman of the Board of Education of New York State Department of the United States, visited the University of International Business and Economics and presented the school with a certificate of formal recognition of the MBA of International Trade and Economics from the University of Economics and Business. Mr. Barrell said that the New York State Department Board of Education is chartered by the Board of Education and acknowledged that the institution’s accredited degree is profitable not only in New York State but also across the nation; it is the only state educational institution in the nation that enjoys this prerogative .
