世界性大害虫几千年来,蝗虫一直是人类的一大禍害,其中有几种蝗虫,如东亚飞蝗和沙漠蝗等,能作长距离迁飞,給农业生产带来的損失特別大。有人計算过,一头飞蝗一生要消耗100克左右的食料,一个大蝗群常包括千百亿头蝗虫,所需的食料加在一起,是够惊人的。蝗灾是旧中国三大自然灾害之一,蝗虫大发生时,大量毁坏庄稼,甚至曾經填滿铁路,阻碍火車前进。有人估計过,抗战前蝗虫每年要夺去我們成千万担粮食,蝗灾严重之年,常常造成饥荒和流亡。
For thousands of years, the locusts have been a major scourge for humans. Among them, several locusts, such as East Asian locusts and desert locusts, have been able to migrate long distances, which has brought great losses to agricultural production. Some people have calculated that a louse needs to consume about 100 grams of foodstuffs for a lifetime. A large louse group often includes hundreds of billions of head locusts. The total amount of food needed is amazing. The locust plague was one of the three major natural disasters in old China. When locusts took place, they destroyed a large number of crops and even once filled the railways, hindering the advancement of trains. It has been estimated that before the war of resistance, the locusts took away thousands of dollars of food each year. In severe years of flood plague, it often caused famine and exile.
