1973年5月间,我队社员在给棉苗追肥时,用桐树叶垫篮子盛化肥,无意中将桐叶丢在棉苗的行间,第二天一大早发现这张桐叶下边有8条地老虎幼虫。当天傍晚,我们又放了24张桐叶作试验,第三天早上检查,每张桐叶下面都有虫,最多一张叶下有虫26条。大队书记又连续做了两天试验,每天都捉到二百多条虫。于是在全大队1,100亩棉田中普遍推广桐树叶诱捕地老虎,从5月28日到6月7日共诱捕地老虎九十
