Objective To observe the expression of Ptch and Smo proteins in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and adjacent non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and to explore the relationship between Ptch and Smo expression and clinical pathology. Methods Immunohistochemistry and Western blotting were used to detect the expression of Ptch and Smo protein in NSCLC and its adjacent tissues. Results Ptch and Smo proteins were not expressed or down-regulated in paracancerous tissues, but significantly increased in NSCLC. The expression of Ptch and Smo protein was not related to the histological type of carcinoma, but closely correlated with the degree of differentiation and lymph node metastasis. The expression of Ptch and Smo protein was significantly lower in patients with poor differentiation and lymph node metastasis. Conclusion Overexpression of Ptch and Smo proteins may be involved in the occurrence and development of NSCLC.
