季维龙先生是大陆较早研究胡适的学者之一。他有多种胡适研究论著,其中重要的有两部,一部是《胡适著译系年目录与分类索引》(下称“索引”),另一部是与曹伯言合作编著的《胡适年谱》(下称“年谱”)。季维龙以其对胡适深入的研究,名闻于大陆学术界。对他的治学态度与治学精神,海外胡适研究会负责人、美国圣约翰大学李又宁教授的评价极为恰当,她说:季“为人诚厚,治学勤谨。”季维龙对胡适研究的历程和成果,确是体现了“诚厚”、“勤谨”这四个字。
