Parathyroid hormone (PTH) and calcitonin (CT) are two major factors that regulate calcium and phosphorus metabolism in vivo. PTH can promote the dissolution of bone salt, so that elevated serum calcium; CT can stimulate the deposition of calcium, so that serum calcium decreased. In recent years, many authors report that diabetic patients are often accompanied by disorders of calcium and phosphorus metabolism, causing osteoporosis and producing diabetic bone disease. But its pathogenesis is not yet well understood. The application of PTH and CT radioimmunoassay, 33 cases of diabetic patients with PTH and 28 cases of CT changes. Subjects and Methods Subjects: All 33 patients were diagnosed according to the criteria established by the Lanzhou Diabetes Conference in 1981. There were 16 males and 17 females. The average age of 49.7 years, of which 30 to 50 years old in 24 cases (73%). Average disease
