腾冲照水梅是果梅的优良品种之一,属蔷薇科李属的落叶果树。此梅果实大、肉厚、酸味纯正,含有多种有机酸和维生素,具有多种药理和保健作用,有较高的药用和食用价值,可用于加工雕梅、梅干、话梅、果酒、酸梅晶等。据云南省林业科学院梅子课题组及腾冲县林业局经济林木站调查结果,腾冲照水梅主要分布于腾冲坝周围海拔1700—1900米的打苴、洞山、中和、曲石等地。一般在2月下旬栽种,3—4年结果,多为6月上、中旬成熟。单果重25克以上,最大单果重可达50—60克,可食率达85％
