Richard Haag(理查德·哈格)1923年出生于美国肯塔基州。幼年时就常在父亲的苗圃地和动物养殖场里帮忙从事苗木种植与农作物生产等;1941年参军,1942年参加太平洋战争,曾是一名飞虎队员;1945年战争结束后,进入伊利诺伊大学风景园林系,师从斯坦利·怀特(Stanley White);1949年,与怀特去美国东海岸旅行,参观沿途的城镇、公园、植物园;又与佐佐木英夫一起驾吉普车从伊利诺伊州出发前往美国西海岸;随后,他转学到加州大学伯克利分校,于1950年获得学士学位;1952年,在哈佛大学研究生院获得硕士学位;1953年,获东京大学富布莱特奖学金资助,
Richard Haag was born in Kentucky in the United States in 1923. In his father’s nursery and animal farms, he often helped nursery seedling cultivation and crop production; he joined the army in 1941 and participated in the Pacific War in 1942. He was once a member of the Flying Tigers; after the end of the war in 1945, he entered the University of Illinois. Department of Landscape Architecture, from Stanley White; in 1949, he and White traveled to the East Coast of the United States to visit towns, parks, and botanical gardens along the way; and Jeep Sassum took a jeep from Illinois to the west coast of the United States; Subsequently, he transferred to the University of California, Berkeley, and received a bachelor’s degree in 1950. In 1952, he received a master’s degree from Harvard Graduate School. In 1953, he was funded by the University of Tokyo Fulbright Scholarship.
