Yunnan is one of the richest provinces in China. The theoretical reserves of hydropower resources in the province are 103.6 million kilowatts, accounting for 15.3% of the national total, second only to Tibet and Sichuan, ranking the third in the country. The hydropower resources that can be developed are more than 90 million kilowatts installed capacity and the annual generating capacity is 450 billion kilowatts KWh, accounting for 17.9% of the national exploitable capacity, ranking No. 2 in the country. The hydropower installed capacity per unit area can be 180.6 kilowatts per square kilometer, ranking the first in the country. Yunnan hydropower resources development conditions are superior. The province’s terrain is high in the north and low in the south. The Hengduan Mountains and its rivers cut the western region into a mountain valley with high undulating terrain,
