The 1980 IEEE Ultrasound Academic Conference was held in Boston, Massachusetts from November 5 to November 7, the same year. This session received a total of 288 papers, 245 outstanding papers, the most for years. Table 1 lists the dates of the previous meetings held from 1966 to now, the number of papers and so on. As can be seen from Table 1, the number of papers submitted by other countries outside the United States has been increasing year by year, reaching more than 30% of the current session, thus making the conference a veritable “international academic conference.” In addition, since 1966, the number of papers on surface acoustic waves has risen sharply, even to 68% in 1973.
