杨梅的故乡在中国,是我国的传统特产,食用和栽培的历史可以追溯到很远很远。据浙江省博物馆的两次科学测定,余姚河姆渡古文化遗址发掘出的杨梅果实,证明了中华民族早在新石器时代就食用野生的杨梅了,也证明了浙江余姚地区在七千多年前就有杨梅树的生存了。在汉代的墓葬中也多次发现过杨梅的遗存。
