《上海博物馆藏战国楚竹书 (二 )》著录的《民之父母》9号简 ,有“其才A也”之语 ,释文A所代表的字 ,原文左旁作“言” ,右旁作“午”下“又”。学术界的人多认为此字是“许” ,把“其才许也”读为“其在语也”。本文不同意这种释读 ,认为A所从右旁是古文“鞭”的另一种写法 ,此字与郭店楚墓竹简《五行》3 3—3 4号“中心辩然而正行之”之“辩”是同一个字的异体。“其才辩也”之“才” ,当读如本字。“才辩”常见于古书 ,是才智辞辩的意思 ,在简文中指孔子的言论。
