语言与性别研究是社会语言学所关注的主要课题之一。上个世纪六十年代,学者们试图把语言学和社会科学各学科的研究方法和成果应用于研究社会语言。他们运用社会语言学的一些观点和理论对女性言语的特点进行了分析。近年来,随着研究的深入,重点逐渐转移到了交际中的语言风格方面,视野比以前大为开阔,力图在更高的层次上较为全面、准确地认识和把握语言使用与性别差异的关系问题,先后产生了许多种不同理论学说。
Linguistic and gender studies are one of the main topics of concern to sociolinguistics.
