四照花(Dendrabnthamia Japonnia)为落叶小乔木,小枝紫红色,嫩枝被白色柔毛。叶对生,纸质,卵状椭圆形,先端渐尖,基部圆形或宽楔形,上面绿色,下面粉绿色,两面有平状的灰白色短毛,背面脉腋有时具白色或黄色簇毛。头状花序近球形,具四枚白色花瓣状苞片。苞片宽约2～2.5厘米,长约3.5～4.5厘米。聚核果,球形,紫红色。花期6月,果熟期9月。四照花自然分布在陕西、河南、甘肃东南部及长江流域各省。散生于山地林中或溪谷两旁,海拔为1000～2000米。浅根性,耐荫,要求湿润、微酸性的肥沃土壤。我省宁西、宁东、太白山、庙台子等林区常见零星分布。
Dendrabnthamia Japonnia is deciduous tree, branchlets fuchsia, shoots white pilose. Leaves opposite, papery, ovate-elliptic, apex acuminate, base rounded or broadly cuneate, green above, below greenish pink, both surfaces gray-white short hairs flattened, veins sometimes with white or yellow tufts on veins. Head nearly spherical, with four white petal-like bracts. Bracts width of 2 to 2.5 cm, about 3.5 to 4.5 cm long. Poly stone, spherical, purple. Flowering in June, fruit maturity in September. Four flowers are naturally distributed in Shaanxi, Henan, southeastern Gansu and the Yangtze River provinces. San were scattered in the mountain forest or on both sides of the valley, at an altitude of 1000 ~ 2000 meters. Light-rooted, shade-resistant, moist, slightly acidic fertile soil. Our province Ningxi, Ningdong, Taibai Mountain, Temple Taizi and other forest sporadic distribution.
