1972年,新中国成立后第一个正式访美的中国代表团——中国乒乓球代表团在美国受到了热情的欢迎。三十年后,受美国伊利诺州政府、芝加哥政府、凯乐世乒公司以及芝加哥世界贸易中心的邀请,以国家体育总局副局长李富荣为团长的中国乒乓球代表团于2002年12月26日再度访美,参加庆祝中美乒乓外交三十周年活动。
In 1972, the first Chinese delegation to visit the United States after the founding of New China, the Chinese table tennis delegation, was warmly welcomed in the United States. Thirty years later, at the invitation of the Illinois state government, the government of Chicago, the Kellogg World Table Company and the Chicago World Trade Center, the Chinese table tennis delegation led by Li Furong, deputy director of the General Administration of Sport of China, on December 26, 2002 Visit U.S. again to participate in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ping Pong Diplomacy between China and the United States.
