1990年初,美国科罗拉多州太阳能研究所的三位科学家宣称:一种用于有毒废料销毁的真空太阳能集热器已经研究成功。这类集热器由双层抛物面反射镜、有毒废料输送管道、真空抽气系统、冷却器、混合装置、副产品回收装置组成。新型的有毒废料的处理装置与传统的焚烧法相比较,不仅具有处理时间短、有毒废气不外泄的优点,而且可以回收几种副产品。由于使用太阳光作为能源,因而也有较大的节能价值。在对剧毒物品二恶英(dioxin)的试验中发现,能销毁的样品占总数的99.9999%。
In early 1990, three scientists at the Colorado Solar Institute announced that a vacuum solar collector for the destruction of toxic wastes has been studied. This type of collector consists of a double parabolic reflector, a toxic waste pipe, a vacuum extraction system, a cooler, a mixing device and a byproduct recycling device. Compared with the traditional incineration method, the new type of disposal device for toxic waste not only has the advantages of short processing time and non-toxic waste gas but also can recover several by-products. Because of the use of sunlight as energy, it also has greater energy saving value. In a test of the dioxin, a highly toxic substance, it was found that 99.9999% of the total destroyed samples were found.
