九九九厂一车间铸造班铸造出来的铸件,质量较差,强度极限O°只能达到7公斤/平方毫米。推广优选法后,铸造班同志遵照毛主席“分析的方法就是辩证的方法”的教导,对炉料配方进行了系统的分析,得出回炉铁和锰铁的加入量是影响铸件强度的主要因素。这是一个双因素的问题,他们先固定锰铁加入量为4斤,在100~150斤范围内优选回炉铁加入量,按0.618取第一试验点,为136.9斤,试验结果极限强度提高到11公斤/平方毫米,对应于0.618的点在120斤附近,没有做,所以取150斤为第二试验点。试验结果,极限强度又提高到13.7公斤/平方毫米。
