党的十五大明确提出:“邓小平理论是当代中国的马克思主义,是马克思主义在中国发展的新阶段。”这是我们党对邓小平理论历史地位作出的科学结论。这一科学论断,既揭示出邓小平理论同马列主义、毛泽东思想的本质联系,又表明了它在新的历史条件下整体推进了马列主义、毛泽东思想,形成了一个相对独立的新的科学体系。邓小平理论开拓了马克思主义的新境界。马克思主义是科学,是以事实为根据,随着实际生活发展而不断发展的科学。在新的历史条件下,邓小平同志在强调坚持马列主义、毛泽东思想的同时,又指出“马克思主义必须发展”,“真正的马克思列宁主义者必须根据现在的情况,认识和继承、发展马克思列宁主义”。邓小平同志坚持解放思想、实事求是,以开辟社会主义新道路
The 15th CPC National Congress clearly put forward: “Deng Xiaoping Theory is Marxism in contemporary China and a new stage in the development of Marxism in China.” This is our party’s scientific conclusion on the historical status of Deng Xiaoping Theory. This scientific conclusion not only reveals the essential connection between Deng Xiaoping Theory and Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought, but also shows that it has promoted Marxism-Leninism-Mao Zedong Thought as a whole and formed a relatively independent new scientific system under the new historical conditions. Deng Xiaoping Theory opens up a new realm of Marxism. Marxism is science, science based on facts and constantly evolving with the development of real life. Under the new historical conditions, Comrade Deng Xiaoping emphasized “Marxism must develop” while emphasizing Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought. “A true Marxist-Leninist must develop Marxism-Leninism in light of the current situation, recognition and succession ”. Comrade Deng Xiaoping insisted on emancipating the mind and seeking truth from facts in order to open up a new road to socialism
