凯瑟的作品重现了人与自然交融的理念。无论是《啊,拓荒者!》中对土地的理解与尊重,《一个迷途的女人》中人与自然在精神层面的和谐统一,还是《死神来迎接大主教》中对传统文明的追求,无不体现了凯瑟浓厚的生态意识。在自然生态遭到严重破坏,人类精神生态出现严重危机的现代社会,重温凯瑟的自然观对于建立人类与自然界的新型生态关系具有重要的现实意义。
