According to “China Electronics News” reported that South Korea’s Samsung Electronics plans to invest 135 billion won (112.4 million US dollars) to upgrade its wafer production line. Samsung Electronics said in a statement that it plans to use these funds to maintain equipment that allows it to produce dynamic random access memory (DRAM) and flash memory on 12-inch wafers. Samsung’s capital expenditures reached 4.88 trillion won in 2002 and 4.2 trillion won in 2001. The company executed the investment between the third quarter of 2002 and the first quarter of 2003.
