Qumalai County is the latest highway in Qinghai Province. In the early 1950s, incoming and outgoing letters were piggybacked by officers. In 1953, Qumalai County was established and the post office was set up. The communications in the county were resolved by means of wireless telegraph and Mabian mails. In 1964, the county bureau organized the Maban mailing group to send a mail to and from a country where the prefectural government was located in the vicinity of Qingshui Township, Chendu County.
