Last summer, a FM stereo radio station in Paris, France, declared that their radio program was able to repel annoying mosquitoes, as the station was broadcasting music and emitting an unheard-of 16-kilohertz sound. This kind of sound wave imitates the courtship signal sent by male mosquitoes to female mosquitoes. The idea is based on the idea that only female mosquitoes that lay eggs after mating bite, and female mosquitoes of this period flee when they hear the male mosquito’s voice.
