我们在1980年龙眼开花特性观察中看到,不论是15～16年生的幼壮树,或60～70年生的成年树,几乎所有的去年生新梢均能形成花穗。在幼壮树雌花所占比例仅5.3％(观察一穗总花量1837朵中,雌花仅98朵),而成年树雌花所占比例竟高达27.4％(观察8穗,总花量8549朵中,雌花2347朵),可见龙眼在不同年龄阶段,虽亦能花开满树,而幼壮树结实率和产量却很低。
