在1997年8月酷暑难挨的夏天,我们沿着111国道,北出怀柔喇叭沟门不久,就进入河北省丰宁县境。车过丰宁北行约28公里处,便是葱绿的喇嘛山。东山峰顶有红旗在召展。登至山顶,沿山脊一溜排列着9个大小不等的园形坑洞。俗话说:“外行看热闹,内行看门道”。经过短时间的观察和辨认,很快确认了这些坑是由于巨大的冰川作用留下的遗迹,学名曰:冰臼。在丰宁之后,不到两个月的时间内,又在内蒙古的赤峰市巴林左旗、克什克腾旗发现了更多、更好和规模更大的冰臼群。何谓冰臼,有关资料称:“由冰川内
