新疆棉花质量好,驰名中外;但受棉铃虫威胁,以二代为害最重。为了探索防治新技术,中国农科院植保所的农药室(原四川农药所)、中国民航总局科研所和新疆石河子农垦局等单位组成了试验协作组,于1978年7月下旬,在新疆石河子149团,进行了首次飞机超低容量喷雾防治棉铃虫试验,共飞行17架次,试验面积22200亩次,获得了成功,并于当年在该团生产上推广应用。
