When I learned that Ms. Chen Jie and many of my colleagues intend to compile a series of books covering the history of Aboriginal peoples in Taiwan, the most abundant and well-written book ever written by mainland China, I can not help but feel touched by their courage and determination. As for the writings on the literary and historical knowledge of Taiwan’s aborigines, there are few mainland continents, some on the island but not systematic and comprehensive, and most of them are the results of the research on foreigners during the colonial period in Taiwan. In recent years, the island’s emphasis on research in this area may well be interpreted as that the academic sector now has deficits and deficits due to many years of outstanding debts. However, it is impossible to avoid the old articles that started the history of today’s political appeal.
