云南楚雄州志办公室杜晋宏在《云南史志》1998年第3期上撰文,论对新方志续修的价值取向问题,谈了三点看法:一、新方志的续修,应正视修志工作已经具有的连续性和年鉴存在的独立性,不应将年鉴仅视为资料长编,而对已经反映过的基础性地情资料进行简单的重复性编纂,而应当立足于地情发展在更高层次上的综合与提炼.二、续修志书不应再因习本届志书体例,追求大而全,强调横不缺项,而应当在精选门类,突出重点,注重社会调查等方面下功夫.方法上也不宜再提倡众手成书,而应推崇专家修志,在保持志书基本特征的前提下提倡风格特色.三、新方志的续修应努力跟上信息时代的步伐,大力提倡技术创新.要努力改变10年“磨”一志,辛勤笔耕的艰苦落后状况,依靠电脑科技,实现修志“换笔”,将续志的表现形式由现在单一传统的文本模式发展成为文字与图画、音乐、视频影像等相集合而成的多媒体模式.地方志的价值功能可以因此得到更好的发挥.
