目前上地退化（荒漠化）问题倍受人们关注。辽西北地处我国北方农牧交错带和科尔沁沙地的南缘，土地退化十分普遍且较为严重。在影响土地退化的诸多因子中，人类不合理地利用土地是导致该地区土地退化重要原因。该地区退化的土地主要表现为三化：即土壤的贫瘠化、沙化、干旱化。
At present, the issue of degeneration (desertification) has drawn much attention. The northwest of Liaoning Province is located in the ecotone between agriculture and animal husbandry in northern China and the southern margin of Horqin Sandy Land. The land degradation is very common and serious. Among the many factors that affect land degradation, the irrational use of land by mankind is a major cause of land degradation in the region. The degenerated land in the area mainly shows three kinds of changes: the impoverishment, desertification and aridification of the soil.
