中国共产党党员、中国印刷界老前辈、上海印刷技术研究所离休干部何步云同志,因病于2000年5月1日与世长辞,享年97岁。 何步云同志1924年加入中国社会主义青年团,1925年加入中国共产党。在与军阀、土豪劣绅、国民党反动派的斗争中担任过党的领导,开展一段时间的地下革命斗争。后来在开明书店、生活书店工作,使他与出版事业结下了不解之缘。解放后他先后任上海新华印刷厂副厂长、上海出版局业务科长、上海印刷学校教务主任、上海印刷技术研究所活字研究室主任等职。
