Within the Likud Group he heads, Israeli Prime Minister Sharon suffered heavy resistance and it was difficult to achieve his political aspiration to reach a permanent peace with Palestine. Sharon said recently that he will withdraw from the Likud Group and set up a new middle-of-the-road party. He hopes to win the election in advance.
