林道静是一名在五四精神感召下成长起来的女学生。她身上有着“五四”精神的内核,但构成其性格特征的因素并不是一维的,而是多元复合而成。她既有五四青年的反抗与斗争精神,又有小资产阶级的狂热、懦弱与迟疑倾向。这双重性格在深层次上其实是心理上双重性别的外在表现。在林道静走向革命的过程中,她的身上的女性意识与男性意识融汇在一起,共同构成她复杂的形象特征。
Linda Lin is a female student who grew up under the inspiration of the May Fourth Movement. She has a core of “May 4th” spirit, but the factors that make up her personality are not one-dimensional, but multi-complex. She has the spirit of revolt and struggle of the May Fourth youth and the fanatical, cowardice and hesitation of the petty bourgeoisie. At the deeper level, this double personality is actually an outward manifestation of the psychological duality.
