The Working Group on Ethical Issues of the Human Genome Research Advisory Group has recommended a series of town meetings to begin in 1991 with the participation of the general public in human genome research and its ethical, legal, and social aspects throughout the United States Impact discussion to be prepared. Plans in this area are currently under development. Nancy Wickersler of Columbia University is the chair of the Ethics Issues Working Group. In the total budget of the human genome research, 3% will be used for social research. The Ethics Working Group also wants ownership and control over genetic information
