为弘扬中国绘画艺术,坚持中国美术的民族特色,实现绘画艺术创作的时代性,民族性与个性的统一。推进中国绘画发展。从2005年起,每年推出一部《中国绘画年鉴》资料性年刊,记录中国绘画发展历程。《中国绘画年鉴》目前共分为三卷,第一卷《绘画记事》,主要收录全国各地的美术学院、画院、美术家协会的大事记;第二卷《绘画展示》主要收录全国性的重大展示活动和各地方、画家的展览展示活动;第三卷《绘画作品》,是由各地美术学院、画院、美术家协会、学会选送的绘画作品;计划中的第四卷为《绘画收藏》,目前正在与有关国家藏馆商洽之中,准备于2007年后编辑出版。《中国绘画年鉴》2005年已出版,稿件由中国美术家协会、中国油画学会、中国美术馆及各省、市、自治区的美术学
