在植物某一个种的进化发展过程中,它的特征和特性不是一下子就发生的,而是根据种的复杂程度在一定顺序性的情况下发生的。某一个器官或特性形成得愈早,则共历史就愈长,共保守程度就愈高,反之,则相反。在发展中的各个个体,均在重复着种的发展的历史。器官形成即依此顺序性,但是在特別短的情况下发生的。最重要的器官和特性形成得早些,次要些的器官和特性就形成得晚些。
