In honor of the 50th anniversary of the 1931 Hawke’s Bay earthquake of 1931 in New Zealand, the Royal New Zealand Society of Earthquake Engineering, the New Zealand Earthquake Engineering Society, the New Zealand National Chapter of UNESCO and the local agencies of the Hawke’s Bay area co-sponsored the “ New Zealand Earthquake Symposium ”organized by the Committee, and in January 31, 1981 to February 3 in Napier, New Zealand held a congress.
