弥勒县五山乡位于哀牢山脉延伸地带,山峦起伏,大小群山遍及全乡。全乡365平方公里,50个自然村,居住着彝、汉、苗族群众16650多人。97%以上的是彝族群众。五山是革命老区之一,早在抗日战争时期党组织就在这里活动。这里是滇桂黔边区游击纵队的主要根据地。五山彝族人民为抗日战争的胜利,为云南人民的解放做出了杰出的贡献。然而,由于这里地处偏僻的高寒山区,交通不便,通讯不畅,资源缺乏,森林覆盖率低,特有的喀斯特溶岩地质使水源缺乏,蓄水困难,造成严重的缺水干旱。虽然解放40多年,但这里变化不大,经济发展缓慢。
Wulishan Maitreya County is located in the Ailao Mountains extension, undulating hills, the size of the mountains throughout the township.
