In the past five years, the world has been working hard to deal with a series of problems triggered by the sudden surge in oil prices in late 1973. These questions are: Can ready-made oil be provided to meet the energy needs of the future; how to adapt to the economic and financial turmoil with soaring oil prices; and how many oil-exporting member countries have used their large oil dollars to develop
