Outokumpu Oy, Finland’s largest mining and metallurgical company, now operates 10 mines and concentrators and four smelters producing large quantities of copper, nickel, zinc, cobalt, chromite and pyrite. The Vammala mine, the company’s newest mine, produced 2780 tonnes of nickel-containing concentrate in 1981, representing 43% of Finland’s nickel from domestic ores.
