改革开放以来，中国发生了深刻的社会变迁和社会转型，社会稳定出现了许多新的情况和新的特点，表现为社会稳定的整体性、相对性、动态性以及时代性特征，从而使得中国的社会主要是一种变革型稳定的社会。把握当今的社会稳定特征，对于我国改革开放和社会主义现代化建设具有极其重要的理论价值和现实意义。
