学者的责任就是给政府和企业中肯地建议,服务社会,而不是为了沽名钓誉。1997年亚洲金融危机,香港科技大学(HKUST)的教授们纷纷以批评者的身份出现,针对香港政府的一系列反危机的政策提出尖锐的批评和质疑,并提出自己的主张。“最后(香港)特区政府接受了我们的建议,因为我们建议的建设性多于批评。”身为财务学系教授的陈家强院长谈起了这个事件还有些激动,“事实上,我们学者的责任就是要给政府提出中肯的意见,服务于社会,而不是为了沽名钓誉。”
