博优629杂交稻由中国种子集团公司三亚分公司育成,优质高产兼顾,2003年开始参加海南预试,2004年开始参加广西区试,于2006年4月同时通过广西、海南两地省级农作物品种审定委员会审定。经农业部检验测试中心检测,海南区试米质全部指标达国优三级以上标准,广西区试米质11项达国优三级以上。
