随着大港油田原油产量的不断增加,原有的输油系统(西线)已不能满足要求,必须对西一联合站进行改造。由于该站地处高产农作物地区,如征地建站将会大大增加建设费用,而且需占耕地50多亩。而在该站旁边有一废弃的地下油库遗址可以利用。为了降低建站费用,不占耕地,决定在这座地下油库遗址上进行西一联改造工程的建设。当然,在老站遗址上建设新站,难度很大。故在设计中,充分考虑了老站改造的特点,并在设计中采用了一些新技术和新装置。投产后表明,改造后的西一联合站能满足输油生产的需要,并为老站改造创出了一条新路。
