The Krk (K_ (rK)) bridge, which is about 110 km southwest of Zagreb in Yugoslavia, is a double-span prestressed concrete arch bridge with a total length of 1309.5 m. Its main span, 390m, is the longest concrete arch in the world, 85m above the Gladesville Bridge in Sydney, Australia, the past record-holder. Its second hole span 244m, is the seventh in the world record of span of concrete arch bridge. The bridge connects the mainland of Yugoslavia to Krk, the largest island in the country. The island is home to the state-run Omisalj oil terminal. The terminal ships 23.8 million barrels a year and, like the $ 900 million Dow Chemical Company’s petrochemical plant under construction, belongs to INA Consortium, Yugoslavia’s largest oil refinery. Upon completion, the Krk Bridge will support 10.4m of pavement and at least 17 pipes. Tube diameter 900mm and 600mm
